Fokus Pilates is your true Contrology Gymnasium, one of few Pilates studios in Australasia operating an Open Studio Format, and only the second in Queensland, located in beautiful Buderim on the Sunshine Coast. Contrology was the name Joseph Pilates, the founder gave his system of exercises in the 1940s, It was only after he died in 1967 that the exercise form became famously called Pilates after his name. Contrology was designed to build whole-body strength, control, and independence in one’s movement practice, helping you progress through the system most intelligently for your body and mind. Many studios today teach derivatives of Pilates, where parts of the method have been stripped out and used for business purposes and no longer make sense to the original work.

Here at Fokus Pilates clients will experience authentic Pilates and work solely on the classical equipment which assists in achieving the truest version of the original exercises. These exercises have been specifically handed down as they were remembered by Pilates Elder, Jay Grimes who learnt directly from Joseph Pilates. Clients at Fokus Pilates will learn the exercises the way Joseph Pilates intended them to be learnt with the expert guidance of your teacher, Melanie O’Halloran.
